Israel Romero / Thursday, July 14, 2022 / Categories: Blog Storytelling: without a story, there’s no differentiation. Storytelling We've been hearing it a lot lately, but this word summarizes what your company is and sets it apart from the rest… if that's truly the case. Your brand is your greatest asset; explain it well to win over the consumer. Made in Spain Gourmet bases its differentiation on its storytelling. Our Storytelling The Gourmet sector, ripe for growth Meeting with potential international clients. They visited our website and really liked the catalog of products we selected as Spanish gourmet items. They chose us as a possible partner because we have a very clear definition of who we are and what we do, explaining how the company was created and the reasons that led us to do so. In other words, they liked our company's story (Storytelling). It defined us and, at the same time, differentiated us from the competition. Those are the magic words every company wants to hear from its customers and/or partners: that your storytelling sets you apart. Our Storytelling In our case, our key is to convey to consumers and businesses that there are, indeed, people behind the online store who have carefully filtered Spanish producers to select those that fit our privileged environment. There are four key points to being part of Made in Spain Gourmet: A product of excellent quality with the appropriate certifications Attractive packaging that invites discovery of what’s inside Its storytelling, that makes us fall in love with how the company was created The people behind the company who align with our values And point 3 has been fundamental: first, to be part of our community and second, to convey it to our customers, both individuals and businesses. Because in the digital age, all products can look alike or even be identical at first glance. But what cannot be the same are each company's stories: when and why they were created, etc. There is a part of the people behind the company present in every product, and that part is not yet fully worked into the marketing strategy. We obsess more over the inner and outer packaging of the product, and we don't focus on the value of the people who made those products possible. For Made in Spain Gourmet, that value is enormous and essential, because it is the differentiating element that will shape how the product is perceived. Having your storytelling well-defined accelerates your positioning in your customers' minds and also increases affinity with people who share a similar life philosophy. For that reason, in your communication plan you should always publish content about your storytelling recurrently, to bring like-minded people into your community and to remind those already in it why they chose you. Ours is very clear: we only share projects with people who share our human values (transparency, excellence, honesty, and sharing), and we define it as Premium Networking. That way, we greatly reduce unpleasant surprises in terms of human relations with our customers. The Gourmet sector, ripe for growth We believe the Spanish gourmet market is still very nascent, much younger compared to other countries, basically because we are only marginally present in key European markets and in North America. Nevertheless, our potential is enormous. And the best advice we can give producers is to invest time and money in their storytelling (written and audiovisual content), because foreign gourmet demand focuses first on being seduced by a story and then by the product. So more videos and tell our story — without fear and, above all, with all the passion you can give it. Details, anecdotes, or simply explaining in your own words, without getting into technical detail, why your brand and products exist. We fell in love with the brands we work with, and we continue to fall for new ones, precisely because we ask them for their storytelling and we see that if we then know how to communicate it properly, the end customer or the corporate client is seduced by it. Because we have unique and spectacular products that need to be explained much better, and in the first person if possible. How should you treat gourmet customers online?
