Navarretinto: possibly the best Iberian pig farm in Spain

Navarretinto

Because when we talk about wonderful Iberian hams and cured meats, we need to know exactly where they come from. And Navarretinto was very clear about that: to be the best in this field. Made in Spain Gourmet, always alongside those who strive to produce the very best that can be made in Spain.

Commitment to the best possible pedigree

I remember perfectly when I met Salvador Pereira, CEO & Founder of Navarretinto. He called our website phone number at madeinspain.store and asked for me. He asked if I would be willing to try an extraordinary 100% acorn‑fed Iberian ham. And of course, who could say no. The most interesting thing was that while we were talking, the ham he mentioned was arriving at our door, so the tasting was almost in real time. That surprised me, and even more so did the product. Excellently presented, and when I opened the packaging I confirmed that the ham had an exceptional texture, as if it had been carved by hand with a knife that same morning. What could I say to Salvador? That once again a Spanish product moved us, and the privilege of discussing it with its owner and the brand's philosophy made it even more exciting and unique. Navarretinto is probably the best Iberian pig farm in Spain. Plain and simple. It began its journey in 2000 with a project that integrates the most advanced German technology within the Extremaduran dehesa. It is backed by two R&D&I projects, its exceptional genetics and health standards, being classified as a Special Sanitary Protection Farm and a Genetic Selection Farm. That led to a very significant investment. Its production is limited to 13,000 pigs/year with a quality that is hard to surpass and is characterized by total homogeneity in all its reproductions. Very well-known brands, recognized internationally, are clients of its Iberian breeding sows, which gives a clear idea of who knows how to do things excellently. In the Navarretinto estate, located in a beautiful valley full of rockroses and holm oaks, natural habitat for eagles, vultures and deer, within the Sierra del Manzano, municipality of Talarrubias (Badajoz), is the pig farm of the same name, dedicated to breeding the Iberian pig of the highest genetic purity and top quality. Since there is no other pig farm within a 40 km radius, it has the best sanitary conditions in Extremadura. All of Navarretinto’s breeding females are registered in the Genealogical Register of the Iberian Pig. A full guarantee to always know the traceability of every Navarretinto product. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Extremadura, the highest authority on products derived from the Iberian pig, determined that the results obtained in all tests performed on Navarretinto’s fresh meat and cured products are optimal, according to the very high quality standards that institution demands. Something no one else in Extremadura has done to endorse the quality of their products. Navarretinto only processes its own production. It does not integrate other farms, nor does it partner with other companies, which is why it guarantees its original and exceptional quality, unique and nontransferable. Its production is limited and 100% certified.

A product for “connoisseurs”

Their cured product line is more than simple “food.” They think of a type of consumer who knows and wants to enjoy the flavor (aroma, taste, and texture combined) of unique products, and this can only be achieved with a group of people with tradition, sensitivity, a love of good taste, who appreciate what the best Iberian pig can provide. The highest-quality ham and Iberian products are meant to be enjoyed, anywhere and at any time of day. Therefore, only the highest quality will seduce the people who know how to enjoy such a gastronomic Spanish treasure.

The magic triangle

The farm is in Badajoz, they are then cured in Guijuelo, and dried in their state‑of‑the‑art curing facility in Alcobendas, Madrid. Therefore we can say that it is a premium Madrid Iberian brand. On our website you can find their whole hams, boneless hams, and hand‑sliced, lomo (cured pork loin), presa (presa — Iberian pork shoulder), chorizo and salchichón. All 100% acorn‑fed Iberian. They are decisively committed to a market close to our gastronomic tradition, a market of connoisseurs of our best Iberian pig. And through Made in Spain Gourmet, they want to develop internationalization in Europe and other international markets. Confident in themselves, they offer a version of Spain’s best Iberian products with their own seal. At Made in Spain Gourmet, we are very proud to have them as part of our Premium Gourmet family.
