Made in Spain Gourmet products that are popular in Germany

Germany and Spain have a culinary romance that has lasted a long time. Interestingly, it began on the beach — paellas, tapas, sangrias — and has ended up in the pantry: oils, hams, honeys and artisanal preserves. The Germans, methodical and attentive to detail, have found in Made in Spain Gourmet something more than an online store: a travel companion that brings the taste of the Mediterranean to their homes, without exaggeration or clichés.

Because if anything defines the German customer, it's that they can't be convinced by smoke and mirrors. What matters to them is the truth of the product, the story behind it, the reason for every texture and every aroma. They want to know where it comes from, who makes it, how the land or the animal is cared for. They want authenticity. And in that, Spain has a lot to tell.

A country that trusts Spanish quality

Germany loves Spain — that’s nothing new. The Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Andalusia… are their emotional refuges. But for years, many Germans returned from vacation with a small frustration: they couldn't continue enjoying those unique products in their daily lives. Made in Spain Gourmet came to change that. To show that acorn-fed ham, organic olive oil or Cantabrian anchovies are not souvenirs, but living gastronomic culture.

And this is where the German public has become the protagonist of our story: demanding, informed, loyal. With them we have learned that luxury is not in the price, but in coherence.

Extra virgin olive oil: the organic king

If ham awakens passions, olive oil sparks debates. The average German who buys EVOO at Made in Spain Gourmet isn't fooled by empty labels. They can tell a mild arbequina from a robust picual. And once they try LAGAR DEL SOTO, Isbilya or CASTILLO DE CANENA Biodynamic, they never go back. The preferred format: the 500 ml bottle for enjoying and the 5L tin for cooking. They know Spain is the heart of the world's olive oil (even if the Italians get some of the fame), and they enjoy showing their friends that Spanish liquid gold has no rival.

Spanish honeys: sweet gold with soul

Few countries value honey as much as Germany. They consume it daily, study it, venerate it. That's why, when they discover the honeys from Alemany 1879, they're surprised: rosemary, thyme, orange blossom or chestnut have nuances that don't exist in Germany. Our beekeeping—artisanal and sustainable—fits perfectly with their respect for nature. Favorites: blossom honey, honey with propolis, and intense monofloral varieties. They put it this way: "There is sunshine in every Spanish jar."

100% purebred Iberian ham: the awakening of the palate

The “low-cost ibérico” had done a lot of damage. For years, the German consumer thought they knew Spanish ham… until they tasted the authentic black label. At Made in Spain Gourmet people write to us from Hamburg or Berlin asking, “What’s the difference between 50% and 100% ibérico?” And when they learn that in the latter there is no crossbreeding, that the pig lives free and feeds on acorns, something changes. Beher, Maldonado, SEÑORIO DE MONTANERA and Domecq are the most highly regarded. They prefer thin-sliced (pre-sliced) ham — practical and elegant. And interestingly, they always choose jamón over paleta (shoulder). They go for purity, no fuss.

Cheeses: a passion for Manchego sheep's milk

Manchego cheese has a fan club in Germany. Its texture, intensity and the history of La Mancha awaken something romantic in them. They love trying different aging periods — from 3 to 24 months — and pairing them with wine or craft beer. OJOS DEL GUADIANA, LA CASOTA and QUESERIA 1605 are the favorites. Many Germans tell us they host tastings at home with friends, where Manchego shares the board with Alpine or Swiss cheeses. And almost always… the Manchego wins.

Canned seafood: luxury in a can

Germany has a long tradition of canning, but the Spanish one feels almost exotic to them: more flavor, more texture, more character. Anchovies (from CASA SANTOÑA, Revilla, Agromar) are an instant crush. They are followed by bonito belly (ventresca), Balfegó bluefin tuna and Galician treasures like spider crab (centollo) or elvers (angulas). People say ours are “preserves for uncorking wine.” And they're not wrong.

Sal de Ibiza: the Mediterranean in a turquoise jar

If there's a brand that symbolizes the German love for Spain, it's SAL DE IBIZA. That clean aesthetic, that turquoise color that evokes the sea, that chic touch that combines nature and design. Their natural salts and gourmet chips have almost become icons in Berlin and Munich. They say it's “bringing a piece of Ibiza summer to the table.” And, honestly, it is.

The German customer: cultured, curious, and discerning

The German customer of Made in Spain Gourmet isn't looking to fill the pantry, but to enrich their experience. They like to learn, compare, and try. They don't hesitate to pay more if they understand why. And their curiosity is endless: they ask about the pig's breed, the altitude of the olive grove, or the type of wood used in aging the cheese. They challenge us. They inspire us. And, above all, they push us to live up to what we represent: Spanish excellence.

Share, don't compete

Working with Germany has reminded us of something essential: luxury is not exclusive, it's shared. They value origin, honesty, and consistency. And we, at Made in Spain Gourmet, believe exactly that. Because in the end, what unites our customers isn't just the palate. It's a way of understanding life: that of those who prefer the authentic over the superficial.

Made in Spain Gourmet. Quality, character, and soul. Also for those who know how to enjoy without rushing.
