Proventus, red wine, Tr3mano (6 units)

Next to the winery, on the other bank of the river, in the hills of Pesquera, we find its vineyards planted on more limestone-rich soils. Tr3smano’s priority is to produce only top-quality grapes at optimal ripeness. That is why strict control over every process is essential, from winter pruning to deciding the exact moment of harvest. Only in this way can the quality levels needed to create truly unique wines be achieved.

A very rounded and balanced Ribera del Duero. With fresh fruit character and a light touch of barrel ageing. Made from vineyards planted by Fernando Remírez de Ganuza at high density and trained as supported bush vines. Produced with 100% Tinta del País and the know-how behind the creation of Tr3smano.

Technical sheet:

Winery: Tr3smano

D.O. Ribera del Duero

Vintage: 2020

Variety: 100% Tempranillo

Alcohol: 14.5 % vol.

Tasting note:

Deep color intensity. Picota cherry-red hue. On the nose, it shows intense aromas of red fruit with toasted notes and spices (pepper). On the palate, it is a flavorful, silky wine in which the fresh touches of fruit blend with the toasted nuances of impeccable oak. Very well-balanced structure. Showing ripe, rounded tannins. Good acidity and a persistent finish.

Serving temperature: 16º C

Geology and Soil:

For more than 20 years, Fernando has been planting Tinta del País vineyards in the Olmedillo area.

Using a supported bush-vine planting system and a high vine density per hectare. In these vineyards, located at around 850 m above sea level on poor soils, low yields are achieved, producing fruit of remarkable quality.

Pairing

At Made in Spain, we recommend it with Iberian ham and aged goat’s and sheep’s cheeses. Also with vegan cheeses from Veggie Karma.

With main courses featuring lamb, game or red meat. With dark chocolate desserts.

Where time does not exist and only craftsmanship matters

A great wine can only be made from an exceptional vineyard, tended with the care of human hands.

Tr3smano draws on outstanding vineyards located in three of the finest wine-growing subzones of Ribera del Duero, situated in the Golden Mile in Valladolid. Together they cover a total surface area of around 55 hectares of vines, although all are very low-yielding.

All the vineyards are planted exclusively with Tempranillo or Tinta del País – Tinta Fina, most of them grown as bush vines, with a planting density of between 3,000 and 4,000 vines per hectare.

All work is carried out entirely by hand with the utmost care to respect the quality of the grapes.

The winery is surrounded by its first 50-year-old vineyard: La Viña del Lagar. This vineyard, together with the one in Rábano, is grown on very poor sandy-loam soils.

Concept and architecture

The winery concept, created by the Konkrit Blu architecture studio, seeks to integrate the building into the landscape, minimizing visual impact and respecting the environment.

The project strategy was based on making use of the plot’s slope to partially bury the building: to the north, the five harvest doors connect the vineyard with the winemaking room and act as gravity-fed grape receiving points, as was done in the past.

The use of gravity benefits both the quality of the final product and energy efficiency.

Light is the other essential element in this project: light with varying degrees of incidence on mass and space. Thus, in the maturation room where the barrels rest, buried in silence, the entry of light is minimal and indirect, in contrast to the winemaking room, which is bathed in light.

In this architecture, the chosen material, in-situ concrete — or cement — represents the total material, bringing continuity to the earth from the earth, while also acting as thermal insulation, reducing the need for air conditioning and forced ventilation.

Solar incidence, meanwhile, is controlled by a system of horizontal aluminum slats along the curtain wall.

In this way, the ergonomics of the winery, with its two elongated faces, offer functional advantages with good lighting conditions, natural ventilation, maximum thermal insulation — in the winemaking, ageing and maturation rooms — and connection between its interior spaces.

Essence of its origin

After decades devoted to wine in different parts of the world, one dream united all the protagonists behind this wine: to find old vineyards in Spain, ideal for making a great red wine. A wine that can become a work of art, fleeting with each bottle, yet enduring in the history of Spanish wines.

All of this while building a winery capable of combining the new techniques of modern oenology with the deepest respect for tradition. The dream gradually took shape through the conversations that the protagonists of this beautiful project shared over a good glass of wine.

Tr3smano

TR3SMANO is the quality wine project of the prestigious and renowned winemakers Fernando Remírez de Ganuza (Rioja) and Pedro Aibar (Aragón) in Ribera del Duero, making the most of very old Tempranillo vines owned by the former and the shared passion of both to craft a great wine in Ribera del Duero. Fernando Remirez de Ganuza, as you well know, is today one of Spain’s most important winemakers, synonymous with quality and meticulous winemaking. For him, exceptional wine quality can only be achieved through strict grape selection and attention to every detail. He received 100 Robert Parker points for his 2004 Gran Reserva. Pedro Aibar:  He owns his winery in Campo de Borja (Pagos del Moncayo). Since 1986, he promoted the DO Somontano while leading Viñas del Vero and founded the boutique winery Blecua. In recent years, he was in charge of management at “El Coto,” part of the Barón de Ley group. La Europea, owned by the Ruíz family and a leading company in the import and distribution of wines in Mexico, completes the project’s trio. Located in Padilla de Duero, in the municipality of Peñafiel. In the Golden Mile of Ribera del Duero and next to the road that connects Peñafiel with its neighbor Quintanilla de Onésimo. Hence the name, and also from the number of members in the project: 3. Their philosophy is to bring together authenticity, origin and dedication by caring for the vineyard and selecting outstanding grapes, with the knowledge provided by our winemakers and the cutting-edge technology of the most advanced winery equipment. A true luxury for MadeinSpain.store and our customers.
