El Teixar by Viñas Domènech is the first wine from D.O. Montsant and the fourth in Catalonia to be granted the “single-estate wine” classification by INCAVI. This recognition distinguishes wines from grapes grown on the same owned estate, with unique site and climate characteristics, following the D.O.’s most demanding protocols and standards for production, yields and winemaking, as well as enjoying national and international prestige for more than ten years.
The Teixar estate of Vinyes Domènech takes its name from a corner of Capçanes known as Font del Teixar. These 3 ha plots are located in a protected natural area of great beauty and ecological value, between the Llaberia mountain range and Montalt, at an altitude of 400 meters. Surrounded by mountains with pine forests and Mediterranean undergrowth, the terrain is highly irregular, which increases the intensity of the winds, while reduced sunlight delays the plant’s vegetative cycle and promotes slower ripening, giving Garnacha its fullest expression.
