Abadía de San Quirce Reserva – Tradition and excellence from Ribera del Duero
In 1998, a group of winegrowers and entrepreneurs united by their passion for wine founded Bodegas Abadía San Quirce in La Aguilera, Burgos, in the very heart of the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Their purpose was clear from day one: to craft wines that faithfully reflect the unique character of the land, combining respect for tradition with winemaking innovation.
With vineyards that include old Tempranillo (Tinta Fina) vines, the winery has earned a prestigious place thanks to the quality of its crianzas, reservas, and limited editions. Balanced, complex, and elegant wines that express the terroir of Ribera del Duero in its purest form.
Wine style and philosophy
Abadía San Quirce Reserva is born from a meticulous selection of Tempranillo grapes from old vineyards and is aged for 24 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by extended bottle aging.
The result is an elegant, deep wine with exceptional cellaring potential.
Tasting note – Abadía San Quirce Reserva
- Appearance: Intense ruby-red color with garnet highlights. Clean, bright, and deeply colored, it shows the strength of the grape and its prolonged aging.
- Nose: Complex, elegant aromas combining notes of ripe black fruit (plums, blackberries) with balsamic and spicy nuances (pepper, clove), dark chocolate, vanilla, and a subtle hint of roasted notes from barrel aging.
- Palate: Broad, enveloping entry. Round, well-integrated tannins, balanced acidity, and a silky passage that fills the palate. Long, persistent, harmonious finish, with echoes of ripe fruit and fine woods.
- Overall impression: A serious, refined, yet highly enjoyable wine, perfect both for cellaring and for opening on a special occasion.
